[Announcement] /r/cats has removed itself from /r/all.

Greetings fellow cat people. I hope your 2017 is off to a roaring start!Recently the modteam has had some discussions about how /r/cats and its appearance on /r/all. Inevitably when a post becomes popular enough to appear on the front page, or even within a few pages of the top of /r/all, it results in some of the worst reddit has to offer. It's especially bad if the post has a person in it, which inevitably leads to massive and flagrant violations of multiple rules of /r/cats, from basic civility to extremely creepy or abusive behavior. With that in mind, the modteam has agreed to remove /r/cats from appearing on /r/all, and from the trending lists also. We're going to let this change stand for the remainder of January, and will revisit it at that time to determine if we will stay with the change or revert it.Our goal is to provide the best possible community for cats and their people, and we feel that this is a necessary step at this time. We also feel that it will not limit our subreddit's discoverability- we are, after all, about cats, so it's pretty easy to find us.However, as noted above if this proves to have negative consequences, we will revisit the decision. Thanks! via /r/cats http://ift.tt/2j6LN3h
